INTRODUCTION

HEC-RAS is a hydraulic program to model the behavior of a flow in a channel in an artificial or natural watercourse (rivers and streams). Used to determine if a given flow rate of the channel overflows or not and therefore do Flooding studies and determine the flood zone.

OBJECTIVES

Learn to manage HEC-RAS and its capabilities for modeling flows in natural and artificial channels.

Learning to delineate the drainage basin by GIS tools automatically from the Digital Terrain Model.

Learn how to calculate the flow of a river.

Learn to manage software HEC-GeoRAS for representing the flood sheet.
